Sandra has over twenty-two years experience as a Massage Therapist. She has worked in a variety of clinical settings prior to maintaining a private home practice and now fulfilling her dream as owner of Inspire Centre for Massage & Wellness. She is an advocate of continuous learning and instructed with the Massage Therapy program at Mount Royal University. The foundation of her practice is a mind/body connection with a focus on stress relief and emotional well-being. Sandra believes that mental exhaustion, chronic stress and muscle tension play a significant role in disease and dysfunction of the body. Massage therapy not only helps clients become aware of where they hold stress and tension in their body, it allows them to experience what a relaxed state feels like both mentally and physically. For it is in this state of complete relaxation that the body is able to rejuvenate and heal itself. Sandra is passionate about massage being an integral part of maintaining health and well-being.
As well, Sandra has a special interest in trauma recovery. Often survivors of emotional trauma such as violence, abuse or grief have tension locked in specific areas of their body and may find it difficult to relax. Massage can be instrumental in the healing process by helping clients recognize areas of tension and facilitating the release of repressed emotions in a safe environment.
Sandra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Linguistics and graduated with honors from Rocky Mountain Academy of Therapeutic Massage. She has completed numerous continuing education courses including: Working with Survivors of Abuse, Pregnancy Massage, Treatment of Lower Back Conditions & Postural Deformities, PNF Stretching, Bereavement Counseling, Deep Tissue Therapy to name a few. She recently completed her Adult Educator certification at Mount Royal University.
