Inspire Centre provides Infant Hearing Family Support Services in partnership with WordPlay at the North Bay Regional Health Centre. Hearing plays a vital role in a child’s early development, from learning to communicate to forming social connections. If your child has been diagnosed with hearing loss or concerns, our Infant Hearing Program – Family Support is here to guide you through the next steps.
We provide families with:
- Education about hearing loss and communication strategies
- Support in making informed decisions about hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other assistive technologies
- Connections to speech-language therapy and specialized services
Early intervention is key! We work alongside families to ensure their child receives the resources, tools, and services needed to thrive.

The first few months of life are crucial for hearing and language development. That’s why newborn hearing screening is offered to all babies shortly after birth to detect potential hearing concerns early. Inspire Centre provides newborn hearing screening, in partnership with WordPlay at the North Bay Regional Health Centre.
The Infant hearing program performs hearing screens and a risk factor screen for your newborn. This quick and painless test checks for any signs of hearing loss so that, if needed, your baby can receive timely intervention.
